Pulley & Coupling

A pulley is a wheel-like device with a grooved surface, designed to guide a belt or rope around it. It is commonly used to change the direction of force and facilitate smooth power transmission in mechanical systems. Pulleys are integral to belt-driven mechanisms, such as conveyor systems, elevators, and automotive engines, where they help distribute power efficiently while reducing strain on the system.

A coupling, on the other hand, is a mechanical component that connects two shafts together, ensuring seamless power transfer between them. Unlike pulleys, couplings do not rely on belts but instead create a direct link between rotating shafts. They are designed to accommodate slight misalignments, reduce vibrations, and enhance system stability, making them essential in industrial machinery, pumps, and drive systems.

While a pulley works with a belt to redirect force, a coupling enables direct power transfer between shafts, ensuring efficient and reliable operation in mechanical setups.
